GPO 746 Telephone

GPO 746 TELEPHONE HISTORY

Introduced in 1967, the GPO 746 was the replacement for the earlier 706 'Modern Phone' and was available seven colours available for rental by GPO subscribers, these were colours were black, concord blue, lacquer red, topaz yellow, ivory, two-tone green and two-tone grey. A brown version was introduced by British Telecom in 1984.  The 746 telephones featured a plain colour co-ordinated dial surround and a clear finger dial with the digits printed on a grey/silver back plate.
