The lacquer red chevron dial back plate replaces damaged, missing or worn plates and is designed for use with all GPO 706 telephones (1959-1967). It must be used in conjunction with an alpha-numeric dial surround/outer ring as the chevron plate is designed to ‘point’ toward the digit being dialled. Each has a diameter of 80mm and features two locator holes to allow it to be correctly positioned on the dial, it is held in place with a metal spring clip (not supplied).
The Britphone range of chevron dial back plates are available in a choice of nine colours – black, concord blue, dark green, elephant grey, ivory, lacquer red, light green, light grey and white.
These chevron dial back plates were standard GPO issue on all early 706 telephones, they will also fit GPO/BT 746 telephones BUT the dial surround/outer ring with the alpha-numeric is required to allow the user to see which digit is being dialled. The chevron plate can also be used on GPO 710, 711, 740 and 741 telephones.
